Take one a Day

A photo-journal …

Roses on my table

I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.

– Emma Goldman

Roses on my table

A simple comparison, but so true. The simple things in life are valued and treasured so much more than riches. My most treasured moments are certainly not about my possessions but things and deeds that have touched my heart.
Give me roses any day…

Dreams are renewable

“Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born.”

– By Dr. Dale Turner

A toast to unlimited possibilities in 2012.

Happy New Year to all.

How great is it that we get to fulfil and renew some of our dreams again? I am looking forward to the year ahead. Many things are going to change in my life. It is somewhat scary but I am excited. My husband and I have been waiting for the opportunity to move to Cape Town and it is finally coming true. Let the adventure begin!
How about you, is there a dream coming true for you on the horizon? or has one of your dreams already come true. I would love to know…I am sure I’m not alone.

Thoughts and Words

Our thoughts and words are like the rudder of a ship — they may seem small, but they affect the direction of our lives.

When my children were young, we spent most of our weekends at this dam, at the sailing club. This is where we spent quality time as a family. The words and moments shared together here shaped the future for my children. It’s important to give children that foundation where they feel safe and confident in themselves. Most of all to give them of yourself and your time.

Celebrating you

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

This photo was taken at the South African Gay Pride Parade earlier this year. People celebrating who they are and showing it to the world. If you want colour, this is definitely the place to go to.

Wonders of Creation

When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.

Mohandas Gandhi

The beautiful sunset in the mountains of Nelspruit in SOuth Africa. One of the many things I love about South Africa are the sunsets. No matter where you watch the sunset, there is always an inspiring, heart-warming, reassuring silence about it.
Stop and absorb the next sunset…

Rays of Beauty

Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out-values all the utilities of the world.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The answer is blowing in the wind…

Blowing in the wind

So often we don’t see things that stare us in the face. How many times do we look but can’t find…the answers. Until one day when it all blows away, and you discover too late that the answer was right in front of you. Take a look at what you have now and be thankful, tomorrow may be too late.

A New Day

“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in, forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day, you shall begin it well and serenely…”Ralph Waldo Emerson
You can only truly know what that means when you have sat, as I did, looking and breathing this beautiful view. It is awesome and inspiring. This was taken in Blouberg in Cape Town, soon to be a place I will see often. I love new beginnings.
If you have dreams, don’t be scared to follow them. Be persistent, they will come true one day.

Beauty is a light in the heart

Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ~ Kahlil Gibran

A Journey Begins with a Single Step

A single step...

We have all heard the famous quote by Lao-tzu (Chinese philosopher) – “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
So often we are afraid to take that first step into what could be a life changing experience. We will never know what could lie at the end of those thousand miles…or if you could go another thousand miles. One step is all it takes to discover!
